The answer is an enthusiastic YES. And I say this not just as an educator or robotics instructor—but from personal, first-hand experience working with children of all abilities, including many with ADHD and Autism.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of teaching hundreds of kids, and I’ve learned just as much from them as they’ve learned from me. My journey into teaching began during my college years, tutoring students in math. I absolutely loved it—the joy of seeing a child’s face light up when a concept finally clicked was unmatched. Even as I pursued a professional career in engineering, I kept tutoring when time allowed. I met many wonderful families along the way, and inevitably, I encountered kids with various learning differences.

Some kids struggled with attention. Some had trouble sitting still. Others needed a very specific learning pace or style to succeed. Through those years, I came to realize something critical: there is no one-size-fits-all approach to teaching.

It wasn’t always easy. What worked perfectly for one child often didn’t work for another. I had to become more flexible, more creative, and more attentive to how each child learned—not just what they were supposed to learn.

These challenges led me to develop new teaching tools. One of those was A+ Interactive Math, an online curriculum used by many homeschooling families, including those with children diagnosed with ADHD or Autism. While robotics projects follow a certain logical sequence (design, build, test, troubleshoot, program), there’s room for creativity and exploration. This balance between structure and flexibility is ideal for many neurodivergent learners. They feel supported but not restricted.

Whether your child struggles with social situations or academic confidence, building a working robot is something they can feel truly proud of. Robotics helps kids discover strengths they didn’t know they had—like persistence, logic, problem-solving, and creativity. These are life skills, not just STEM skills.
